Attention North Carolinians! Early Voting has officially begun!
Out of 115 school districts in North Carolina, 87 have an election this November, with a total of 292 seats up for grabs. In anticipation of Election Day, here are some key facts you need to know before you hit the polls:
- Each district runs their school board elections differently. Some elections are “at-large,” meaning a seat is district-wide, while others hold elections among sub-districts, or areas in which only those who live can vote.
- 52 districts will hold partisan elections this year, for which candidates on the ballot disclose their party affiliation. The other 35 districts will hold non-partisan elections, for which candidates run against each other with no indication of a party affiliation.
