*Calling all school board members, candidates, and concerned Carolinians!*

Do you care about the state of education in your school district? Are you concerned for the students who are being brought up in A Nation At Risk? Whether you are a seasoned school board member, a new-to-advocacy community member, or anything in between, we at CALN have crafted the perfect training for you, whatever stage you are at.

The Carolinas Academic Leadership Network is hosting two training and Networking sessions for current board members, campaigning hopefuls, and North and South Carolina community members.

The first day of training will be in Raleigh, North Carolina and over Zoom, for NC board members, candidates, and education advocates on Saturday, April 20, 2024.

CALN has curated an array of exclusive sessions which will be taught by expert witnesses, both from North Carolina and out-of-state. The training will cover every topic from campaign finance to NC policy, and effective communication to prioritizing academic achievement. The full agenda and speaker list for North Carolina can be found on our website

The second day of training will be in Columbia, South Carolina and over Zoom, for SC board members, candidates, and education advocates on Saturday, June 22, 2024.

South Carolina natives, as well as out-of-state experts, will deliver our impressive sessions, just like in North Carolina. From fundraising and branding to education policy, the South Carolina Primer will also be chock-full of sessions you won’t want to miss if you hope to be an effective leader in your school district. Some details are still being finalized, so stay tuned for updates!

Both Primers are unique, with discussions on policy and solutions that are catered to each of their respective states. That being said, if one date does not work for you, you can certainly benefit from attending the other one!

There is no need to travel far – both Primers have a virtual attendance option. But, there are benefits to attending in person! At each Primer, in-person attendees will receive lunch and a goody bag full of resources, and they will have time to Network and hone in on certain skills.

In person space is limited and seats are filling up fast! We hope to see you in Raleigh or Columbia for the most comprehensive, informational school board trainings this year!
