In today’s digital age, cellphones are often the primary cause of classroom distractions. The issue has become overwhelming for many educators, and parents now more than ever are speaking out. Of course, it’s not just academics that are at stake. The abundance of smartphones in schools can amplify bullying, undermine social development, and heighten students’ dependency on technology.

In a new op-ed for The Charlotte Observer, I share my thoughts on how leaders in North Carolina and other states can tackle the issue and protect school integrity.
